I always have a good laugh on the inside when I talk to people who know very little about internet marketing about what I do online When I tell people about the types of products I provide online using affiliate feeds the response is always the same, "I doubt you are making money doing that - that market is pretty saturated isn't it?"
To me that is like me walking into a hospital maternity ward and saying, "Why did you just give birth to that baby girl? There are already 3 billion females on this planet! Do we really need another?" How stupid is that? I mean, the more choices my boys can get the better right? I have 5 boys so that only leaves 600 million a piece!?! C’mon!
Mom and pop aren't going to decide whether or not to have kids based on how many there already are - just like I am not going to decide whether or not to sell stuff online based on how many other sites are selling the stuff. Seriously though, there are two points I try to make when confronted with the "saturation” argument:
- 1. I wouldn't freakin' be doing it if it wasn't making me money!?!

- 2. There is no such thing as saturation on the internet!
Point number 1 needs no explanation. As for number 2 let's first review what saturated means courtesy thefreeonlinedictionary.com:
sat·u·rat·ed
adj.
1. Unable to hold or contain more; full.
Ok, there is no such thing as full on the internet - there is ALWAYS room for more - ALWAYS! Never will there be a time when there are so many people selling product X that there won't be room for me to put up a site to try selling it. I may not sell as many as Amazon or Best Buy - but if I do my job as an internet marketer correctly, WHEN I do sell product x I WILL make a profit.
So how do I get to a point when there is a WHEN? Two ways. One is that I pay for it. I can buy traffic from MSN or Yahoo, and sometimes Google to get eyeballs in front of my product x. If I can buy traffic for less money than I make selling it - cool, I am making money!
The other is just by being in places the other guys aren't. If someone searches for "10 optcal zoom sny HD camcorder" I can be there. I can also be there when they go looking for any number of off the wall crazy phrases (as well as ones that aren’t so crazy) that people do indeed type into Google that the big guys just aren't going to take the time to be there for.
There is one final sweet ass thing that I can do as an affiliate marketer that the big guys just will never be able to do. The big guys actually have to sell the product x to make money - I don't. All i need to do is get the customer to visit the merchant I am promoting and now I am making money off of whatever the visitor buys in the next n number of days. n can be anywhere from 1 to 120 !
So you see, saturation on the Web is a myth!
