My latest personal projects revolve heavily around several API's including Amazon's E-Commerce Service. The ECS is completely free, and is fully featured. There are very, very few pieces of data and features that you can't access that are part of the actual Amazon.com site. Unlike many other product feeds that suck their feed is well established, and reliable. With the ECS you don't have to create your own categorization system, the service does it for you.
Here's the thing I really like about it though. You can totally brand it as your own store. If you code everything correctly visitors to your site will never know that it is actually an Amazon affiliate site. You can even host the amazon shopping cart right on your own site. The only thing is that when the user does go to buy, they will have to do so through the Amazon site, but that aspect can be easily mitigated by displaying a clever message just as they are about to checkout. You simply state that you have partnered with Amazon to ensure a safe secure checkout..and that does the trick. It's not a lie either!
Take a look at this Amazon affiliate site: http://www.coffeekorner.com/
Yep, all those products are Amazon's produts. That is an actual Amazon affiliate site.
